You need to make
a decision!
All low cost Propane regulators
like our REB11 are Single Stage Regulators. This standard low
cost regulator is supplied in all of the kits we offer. There
are also 2 stage regulators available as an upgrade (two stage
does NOT mean two gauges).
SO, what is the problem with a
one stage regulator? One out of every 100 users of single stage
regulators have a fluctuation problem. What does that mean? It
means that the flame will occasionally change from a normal size
flame to a larger flame and back again all by itself. See below
for the reason why. If you are using the regulator for other
reasons, BBQ, melting lead to make fishing weights, burning grass,
whatever, it really is not a problem. But it is a problem when
you need a steady flame on your torch. (This problem is only
for the Acetylene/Propane Regulator NOT the Oxygen Regulator.)
So the decision
you need to make is that:
Are you going to gamble that you
are not one of those one out of 100 users
OR
Are you going to up grade the Acetylene/Propane
regulator to a two stage for an extra $185.
Order
number 260 - cost $250.
All kits can be upgraded
for an extra $185 - (the difference between the one and two stage
regulator)
The reason for
the flame fluctuation when using a single stage regulator.
VAPOR - is the enemy. What is vapor?
Vapor is liquid propane as apposed to gas. Gas is what
you want. Some of the liquid vapor flows with the propane gas.
If it makes it to your flame it causes your flame to fluctuate
and jump for a moment. Why does this vapor problem just happen
to just a few people? All propane is not the same! Plus certain
temperatures of the work area, tank temperatures, brand of propane
and other variables cause this problem. High humidity areas seem
to make a difference. This fluctuation is not the falt of the regulator!
Sorry - if you are one of the few people affected by this problem,
we can not accept back your used single stage regulator even
if you want to upgrade to a two stage. The only way to stop vapor
is with a two stage regulator.
Some solutions
that might help prevent vapor.
Purchase your propane at a different
place. Turn up the pressure on the propane regulator, maybe up
to 10 or 15 PSI does help and often solves the problem. Remember
the Oxygen pressure is always double the Propane pressure.

Hay - your selling
me a regulator for propane that says for Acetylene!
Yes it will work just fine!
But be careful, not all Acetylene
regulators will work for propane because the rubber in most common
Acetylene regulators will rot the rubber parts. But not ours,
the internal rubber seals and parts in our regulators are the
same good material used in propane regulators. Do not use the
regulator for Acetylene if it was ever used with Propane.
Read Below for VERY Important
Information.
You could break the regulator
the second time you use it and the warranty would be void!
If you do not read and follow the
instructions included with the oxygen regulator - especially
Page 10, Paragraph 3, you could rip the regulator diaphragm even
the first time the regulator is used. This is because the full
2500 psi pressure of a new oxygen tank could smash the diaphragm
if not protected. The warranty does not cover this this type
use.
