Kiln Maintenance

Chips or cracks in the insulating fire brick will not impede performance of your kiln. Chips or cracks in the brick will not effect performance. Most kilns over time will develop cracks due the expansion of the bricks by the constant heating and cooling. You can just leave them alone. If it bothers you, ask us for a bottle of kiln cement.

Fiber Cloth flap covering for kilns will eventually fray. If your kiln came equipped with a fiber cloth flap covering, the sides of the flap will eventually fray. This is normal wear for this high temperature fiber material. Replacement flaps are available at a nominal cost. New style shown below.


Replacing Fiber Cloth on Kiln Bead Collar: Loosen Metal Band, Attach two pieces of Looped Fiber side by side.
