Glass Fusing

Glass Fusing is as simple as baking cookies. But there are always a few rules.

  1. Protect a kiln shelf with Kiln Wash and/or Thin Fire. Dry completely.
  2. Stack Tested Compatable Bullseye Glass on the shelf to make your design.
  3. Make your project 1/4" thick. Thicker projects require more rules.
  4. Fire your project in a Sundance Kiln up to 1500 degrees F.
  5. Do not heat faster than 250 degrees per hour.
  6. Cool kiln by simply turning off. Enjoy

Now you have the choice to bend and shape your fused project which is called Slumping.

  1. Protect a Slumping Mold with Kiln Wash. Dry Completely.
  2. Place your pre fused project on the dry slumping mold.
  3. Fire your project in a Sundance Kiln to 1250 degrees F.
  4. Do not go faster than 250 degrees per hour.
  5. Cool kiln by simply turning off. Enjoy

And of course there is lots more to Fusing. There are three ways to learn more:

  1. Buy a Fusing Book
  2. Buy a Fusing Video.
  3. Take a Fusing Workshop.
