Goal of this workshop
We develop more techniques to make your projects unique. We then put these unique elements into your art pieces
A few of the things we do in this workshop
You have already learned quite a bit in our beginning fusing and slumping class. We do more things in our beginning class than most other classes you would take somewhere else. In this intermediate class, we dive directly into intermediate techniques. We expect you to know or at least have been exposed to most of the concepts we teach in our beginning class. If many of these beginning techniques is not what you have experienced in your beginning class, then we might recommend taking our beginning class, even if you have been fusing for a while.
We spend our two and a half days making elements that you would then incorperate into you fusing projects. The goal of this class is for you to take home a huge box filled with smaller unique and interesting pieces that you would take home to your studio to help build that unique incredible larger project
- We do a quick review of what we would cover in the beginning workshop, compatibility, annealing, etc.
- We texture glass which can be used as tiles
or assemble them in a grid pattern to make a door panel or wall divider. -
We make pattern bars
and then fuse them together
- We do surface decorating by sandblasting. This is the only workshop at Sundance where we teach sandblasting.
- We work with frit.
- We work with a torch to make glass elements like custom sized stringers and twists (latticinos).
- We move and manipulate molten glass by raking.
- We can actually weave glass - like cloth or top of a pie

Our classroom and equipment
Our classroom and workshop area
has the latest and most complete setup available. Each student
has a well lit comfortable work area with plenty of room for
working on their projects. We have many large
kilns, so everyone can get many projects done. Everything is
provided in the workshop except glass. Student purchases the
glass for the class. Most of our students are from out of town.
There are nice affordable accommodations close by.

Class Times and Hours:
- Friday from 3 PM to 9 PM
- Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM
- Sunday from 9AM to 3 PM
- Studio is open to 9 PM for evening open workshop time Friday and Saturday nights.
Cancellation Policy: Full payment is required to hold you spot in the
workshop. 1/2 or 50% of the fee is not refundable if you cancel or do not show for class.

What to wear and bring:
- Bring your lunch or step out for a lunch break.
- The classroom has a great heater and air conditioner, so bring any comfortable clothing. No open toed footwear.
- Everyone will need to bring or purchase before class:
- Your own Glass Cutter (we recommend the Toyo brand - any style handle)
- Glass Pliers
- Two 8" x 8" kiln shelfs - you will be cutting them up.
- Special Safety Fusing Filtering Lens Glasses
- We have these but you might want to bring your own:
- Sissors
- Exacto Knife, single edge razor blades, other blades
- Apron or bib - we are doing a lot of work on water lubricated grinding equipment, you will get wet.
- Clear Safety Glasses, Reading Glasses
- Bring any of your personal or special hand tools. Please be sure to mark them yours.
- Any Bullseye or COE90 glass you have, we are not tight about everything you make must be our glass.
- We only work in COE90 glass. Please don't bring other COE glasses, it might mix and contaminate our glass.
- Please no perfume or cologne, some people are sensitive.
