Glass Fusing and Slumping Supplies
High Temperature Fusing Gloves
These heavy duty gloves are priced and sold by the pair. These gloves are great when you want to pick up hot glass or open up your kiln while it is in the fusing process. Temperature rating 800 to 1100 degrees F. The temperature rating is the temperature the material starts to break down. It does not mean you can hold an 1100 degree object indefinately. The heat will slowly penetrate the material until it is to hot to handle. This is true for any glove.

Gold, Silver, and Palladium
Very thin squares of the real thing. Don't be fooled with the commonly available inexpensive leaf that is only colored aluminum. Place small pieces of this metal on top or in between layers of glass. A single sheet of leaf barely shows up. Experiment with multiple sheets and the thicker sheets to get the effect you like. Aproximate Sheet Sizes are 3-3/8" to 3-3/4" Square.
You can see that a single layer shows well.
This glass was full fused to 1500 degrees F.
This gold leaf has an **Average weight of 65g/1000 leaves

Polishing Wheel
Removes small scratches from glass. Also removes devitrification - but with a bit of effort. Use Pumice first to grind away more glass. It will leave a slight haze. Finish by using Cerium Oxide which leaves a glossy surface finish. You must use a different polishing wheel for each abrasive. Do not cross contaminate. If you want to use both polishing compounds, you will need to order two of item# 5702.
Mount the polisher on a drill. 1/4" shaft.
Make a paste with water. Apply paste to the polishing wheel.
Work wheel against glass. Too fast a speed throws the paste off
the wheel. Remember, you would need to polish to the bottom of
a scratch to remove the scratch completely, so it doesn't work
fast for deeper scratches. Also works for devitrification with
a bit of effort. The 5716 bottles store the polishing wheel.
Use another one to mix and store the polishing paste.
