We offer the highest quality filtered glass lenses designed for the glass worker. You no longer have to pay those high prices for frames from that other company. Most all of the filtering lenses available anywhere comes from the same factory in Germany. So the only difference between where you buy your glasses is: the style of the frame and how much you pay. We also sell many didymium glasses to Blacksmiths.

Four Basic Types of Glasses

Rose Didymium We and no one carries anymore, there are a lot better glasses out here.	Enhanced Didymium More of the Didymium (we carry 202ACE) standard glass workers glasses, blocks bright yellow flare, but not much UV and no IR. You may not require UV and IR protection. Most soft glass beadmakers use this filtering lens. Not sure how much protection you require? A Shade 2, 3 or 5 Lens Blocks UV and IR, but not the filtering of the bright yellow flare found in didymium, you may still need didymium. Most borosilicate hard glass workers use lens that filter all three; yellow flare, UV and IR. Three ways to add this UV and IR protection to your didymium glasses. 1) Clip on - see above picture. These clip ons are listed down this page.  2) Fit over - large frames fits over other glasses. See down this page for more about this. 3) Or use the Green ACE IR pictured in the column to the right, it does it all in one.	Green ACE IR Formally Boroscopes now replaced by the better Green ACE IR. These glasses does it all, blocks yellow flare, UV and IR. See further down this page to see more info about Green ACE IR. Also available in split lens. WOW Enhanced Didymium (202ACE) on top for better viewing and Green ACE IR on bottom for more protection.

What's the difference between Shade 2, 3 or 5? Click Here to see a chart of the differences. You will notice minimal difference in UV and IR protection between shades but a whole lot of reduced visibility as the shade darkens. In other words - do you want to give up a lot of your visibility for just a little more protection? This is a decision you need to make.

These are not Didymiums. Usually used in combination with the didymium glasses shown above in the left column on this page. Using the below glasses is an inexpensive way to add more protection to the above didymiums. It is common for people working with borosilicate glass, (when the flame is extra bright, or when fuming metals onto the glass) to use the below glass in conjunction with the above didymium. The below glasses provides good UV and IR protection that Didymiums do not provide. If you are not as much concerned about cost, then do not use these. Use the glasses in the above right hand column, the Green ACE IR's. They do everything.		Price

More about GreenACE IR formally Boroscopes Green ACE IR are designed to meet the need for the extra UV and IR protection needed when working on borosilicate glass. Green ACE IR are specially formulated glass filter lenses that the manufacture exclusively owns. These lenses have been developed for the lampworking and glassblowing markets. This revolutionary product is greatly lighter than conventional laminated products and comes in a full coverage lens which is a higher quality design because there are no areas without shading. Green ACE IR should be worn when working on hard glass types where regular didymium lenses are not adequate due to the fact of insufficient filtration of ultra violet and infrared absorption.
