Information about Rose Didymium Glass Safety Lenses
Rose didymium is the classic filter that has been used for many years and works well for most all glass working applications. This is a diachronic filter exhibiting a different color under different light types. It is generally a rose color under incandescent light, and a pronounced blue color under fluorescent light.
The spectral analysis of this glass, and it is the actual glass not a coating, at 3.2 mm center thickness indicates a high transmission of visible light averaging approximately 80% (means it doesn't look dark when wearing them). It offers good protection against ultra violet rays to 360 NM. However, somewhat less protection than the Enhanced Lenses in the near or mid infrared.
In general, this filter is adequate for most art glass blowing applications, and can be used in poorly illuminated shops, since the visible transmission is generally adequate. (It is not dark glass) These rose didymiums filters out sodium flare at 575 to 600 NM.

Information about Didymium Enhanced Lenses
This glass material was developed in its original form for color enhancement of the primary colors Red, Green, and Blue.
It has the ability to filter the sodium flare at 575 to 600 Nm. There also appears to be some benefit from the color enhancement properties for the glass, by improving the judgment of temperature. It affords adequate protection in the ultra violet wavelengths, and some improved protection in the near and mid infrared spectrum.
