Business Opportunities in the Art Glass Business

Here are some of the ways to sell finished art glass, your own or other artists.

  • Hire a rep. A rep has his own outlets; stores, gift shops, galleries. He will put your products in these outlets and take a percentage as his commission. This is an excellent way to sell your products. It takes an enormous of effort to sell your products. Spend your valuable time making your product. Remember you only have how many hours per week to make product?
  • You can travel to stores, gift shops and galleries to sell through. They will put it on consignment or buy them outright if they really like it.
  • You can open your own store, gift shop or gallery. You could also sell other artists artwork that's different than yours.
  • In some areas, there are artists coops where you rent a space in the store and make your own display. Some stores charge a monthly fee or a percentage of what is sold or both.
  • Sell your products by mail order.
  • Sell your products through the internet by creating a WEB site or by putting your products on a group or coop WEB site. You can sell other artists work on your own WEB site.
  • Sell at:
    • Home Shows (Stained and Etched Glass)
    • Bead Shows (There are many around the country now)
    • Art and Wine Festivals or other Craft-type fairs
    • Church Bazaars
    • Flea markets (Don't expect much)
    • Your own home craft show or garage sale.
